WYLEY F. JOHNSON, 86, passed away on September 4th, 2026.

Born in West Virginia, he was one of 13 children. Wyley enlisted in the Army as a Military Police Officer, serving in Michigan and Germany in the early 1960s. He returned home to Chicago where he was with Cameo Container Corporation as a manager for 30 years.

In 1980, he married Marie Johnson of Memphis. The Johnsons went into the ministry, where they impacted hundreds as they came to Christ. They were also foster parents, helping countless young people who needed a temporary home.

Wyley was a hard-working, hard-headed and hard-loving man. He worked in the HVAC business well into his 70s. Nothing stopped him, despite many hard years of working.

His toughest and most important job was loving and providing for his wife of 46 years. As her health declined and she went into the hospital, he literally worried himself to death as he paced the house all night looking for his bride. Wyley had a major stroke on Tuesday

Wyley Johnson was a simple and good man who truly loved his wife until his last breath.

Wyley's final hours were spent in comfort as his daughter Tina Bakerakes, stepson Joe Land, Sr. and daughter-in-law , Dana Land sat at his side. His life ended knowing that he was loved and appreciated.
