Underwood, William C., 93, of Zephyrhills, Fl. passed away on January 22, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 71 years Marilynn (Myers) Underwood. He was born on December 16, 1928 in Dahlgren, Illinois to the late William and Gladys (Standerfer) Underwood. He attended school in Flint, Michigan, and graduated from Oscoda High School in Michigan. William joined the US Navy at the age of 17 in 1946. He served on the heavy cruiser St. Paul on the China seas. He reenlisted in the US Airforce in 1951 and served at Wurtsmith AFB Oscoda, Michigan, Spangdahlem AFB in Germany, McChord AFB Tacoma, Washington, Osan AFB in Korea, Lackland AFB San Antonio, Texas, and Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois. Upon retiring, William returned to Oscoda and was an US Postal clerk, he retired in 1988. He was a member of the American Legion. William loved to play golf, having won several trophies in 2001 after He and Marilynn moved to Zephyrhills, Fl. William is survived by his loving wife Marilynn, two children; son Rick W. (Debra) of Westfield, Indiana, daughter Teri J. (Thomas) McConnell of Bellbrook, Ohio, four grandchildren; Kathleen (Andrew) Coffman, Matthew (Molly) McConnell all of Bellbrook, Ohio, Meredie Underwood Westfield, Indiana, and Craig Underwood New York City, New York, great grandchildren; Caleb, Madison, Gavin, Hadley Jeanne McConnell, and Brody and Maxwell Coffman all of Bellbrook, Ohio, sister Ida (Erich) Grams of Lennon, Michigan, niece Judith Severance, and his favorite dog Abigail is waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge.
