Stone, William E., SR., 84, of Lakeland, FL, lost his battle to cancer on January 14, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL with his family at his side.Bill was born February 11, 1929 in Gleason, PA, as the son of Delbert and Martha Stone. A graduate of Canton High School, he was employed by Edgewoods Dairy, Troy, PA for 33 years before relocating to Lakeland where he retired after 14 years with Bonny Apartments. After retirement Bill continued to work, first at T. Thomas Chevrolet as a driver and then for another 15 years for C & S Truck Rentals.He always enjoyed a round of golf and a good game of cards with his good buddies and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Aletha Tiny Stone Gustin; brother-in-law, James Gustin; brother, Delbert (Jimmy) Stone; sister, Mary Ellen Stone Bittenbender.Surviving are two sons, Michael (Bonnie) Stone and William (Susan) Stone, of Lakeland, FL; a daughter, Stephanie Stone Williams (Bill Johnson), of Athens, PA; six children, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his special canine buddy, Odie.Arrangements are under the direction of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City, FL with entombment Monday, January 20, 2014 at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
