Obituary

William Harrell Revels, nicknamed "Moose," 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in Dade City, Florida. He was born in Leesburg, Florida, to Jack and Wilma Revels on April 1, 1946.

Preceding him in death was his loving daughter, Lynnette, his parents, mother and father-in-law, and several siblings, both biological and those gained through marriage.

Harrell grew up in Linden, Florida, on a farm and cattle ranch. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish, a skill he learned early on to help feed the family. After graduation from South Sumter High, he proudly served in the Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he graduated from Florida Southern College with his bachelors degree. He became a fisheries biologist with the Game and Freshwater Fish Commission, working at the Richloam Fish Hatchery until retirement. He specialized in producing hybrid striped bass and sunshine bass, receiving recognition as an international consultant, traveling twice to New Zealand, where he helped set up their hatcheries.

He attended both Methodist and Baptist churches. He was a member of the Sumter County Farm Bureau and the Florida Cattleman's Association. He was also a Mason, serving twice as Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in Groveland.

His memory will be cherished by Sandra, his wife of 55 years, daughter Landi (Davy) Adams, grandsons, Cason Adams and Landon Adams, his siblings Jackie Peterson, Mike (Shirley) Revels, Gary (Liz) Revels, Debbie (Matt) Dryden, Cynthia Revels, Steve Adams, Edwin (Kathy) Hines, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 28 , 2025 at 10 AM at Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, 21051 Kersey St., Dade City (Lacoochee), Florida. Viewing will be held at Hodges family funeral home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM. Internment at Linden cemetery following the services. Dinner will be at First Baptist Church in Linden following the internment.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Harrell's memory to the Shriners Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project .
