Obituary

William "Bill" MacKinlay 87, of Dade City, FL passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Tampa. Although Bills parents, Ernest and Ima MacKinlay, were from Tampa, they were temporarily in Pottstown, PA when he was born. They returned to Tampa shortly after his birth, and Bill later graduated from Hillsborough High School class of 55 and the University of Tampa. He served as a lieutenant in the Army Reserves and Florida National Guard. He also was a schoolteacher before beginning his career as a sales manager in the oil industry, working for Exxon Corporation, Kendall Oil, Neumann Oil and Coastal Corporation.

Bill had a magnetic personality that would energize any room with unparalleled friendship and a hearty laugh. He lived a full and vivacious life, and he enjoyed mowing, edging and trimming the trees on his property until the week of his passing. He will be eternally missed.

Bill is survived by his wife: Anne MacKinlay; daughter: Robin Rhinesmith (Philip); Robins mother Dudley MacKinlay, 2 stepsons: Eric Zeola and Dr. Michael Zeola (Sarah); brother Mark Mackinlay (Becky); 4 grandchildren: Cory Rhinesmith, Hannah, Ryan, and Chloe Zeola; and his K-9 companions: Kody and Darla.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to either Florida Cancer Specialists or The Pepin Heart Center at Advent Health Tampa.
