William Richard "Dick" Jarrett Sr. 88, of Zephyrhills passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at home. He was born January 12, 1929 in Rockingham County, NC to John Patrick & Mary Pearl Rogers Jarrett and served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Dick Jarrett Ford Motor Company for 38 years. His love of the community and philanthropic spirit led him to volunteer his leadership abilities to numerous boards and civic groups including the Sertoma Club of Clearwater, the Dade City Rotary Club, Dade City Chamber of Commerce, the Hardy Benevolent Fund, Humana Hospital, the Florida Hospital Foundation and First Union Bank. He was a strong supporter of the local school system where he contributed to their athletic programs and numerous school wide events. Dick is survived by his wife: Barbara R. Jarrett; 3 sons: William R. Jarrett Jr (Lisa), Commander Charles D. Jarrett, Brian Jarrett (Mandy); 2 daughters: Barbara Hasty (Marty), Linda Jarrett (Johnny); and their mother: Joan R. Jarrett; 2 daughters: Diane Guminski, Beverly Jarrett; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents: John & Pearl Jarrett; 1 brother: J.P. Jarrett; 4 sisters: Marguerite Cooke, Lillian Smith, Louise Blalock and Helen Stallings. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Monday, March 20, 2017 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his memory to either the Pasco Educational Foundation, Florida Hospital Foundation, Gulfside Regional Hospice or H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
