William “Bill” Drinkwater, son of James A. and Sophia Drinkwater, formerly of New Baltimore, New York, passed away on February 11, 2026, in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy, spending his final two years of service in Vietnam.

He was a dedicated and active member of his community throughout his life. Bill served for over 20 years with the Cornell Hook & Ladder Fire Department. He was a member of Social Friendship Lodge #741 in New Baltimore and remained a proud Mason for more than 60 years.

Bill was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1895 in Rotterdam, New York, and a life member of the Rotterdam Elks Lodge #2157. He was also a devoted member of American Legion Post 1614 in New Baltimore for over 60 years, serving as both Past Adjutant and Commander.

Bill is survived by his son, Scott Drinkwater and his wife Renee of Zephyrhills, Florida and daughter Tracey Schmaus and husband Steve of Apex, North Carolina.

He was the proud grandfather of three grandsons: Andrew and Evan Drinkwater of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Tyler Schmaus of Apex, North Carolina.

Bill will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to his family, his country, and his community.

Service will be held at Bushnell National Cemetery, Tuesday February 17th at 9am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gulfside Hospice, Zephyrhills, FL.
