William "Bill" Dean a beloved husband, father, and Bumpa passed away peacefully at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, FL on June 14, 2020. He was born on March 26, 1947 in Highland Park, MI to parents Howard L. Dean & Lenore E. (Dixon) Dean.
Growing up in Redford, Michigan, he graduated from Redford High School. Bill served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, it gave him great pride to serve his country.
General Motors in Warren Michigan is where he spent his 40 year career. Starting in the wheel job, moving to security and floor supervisor, fire chief, and retired as the safety supervisor for the plant.
He and his wife had a home "up north" in Luzerne Michigan. As an avid outdoorsman, many great memories were made at the deer camps he would host for his family and friends. Bill also loved coaching little league, skeet shooting, fishing, golf, and as a jack-of-all-trades, you could always find him helping others out with projects they needed finished.
Bill and his family spent many years in the National Campers & Hikers Association, in the RoadHugger's chapter, where he was honored to serve as the state President for Michigan.
Dade City, Florida became his winter home during retirement, where he lived in the warm, welcoming community of Grove Ridge. Many fun times were had with wonderful friends that became like family to him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Howard & Lenore Dean; two brothers Thane and Dennis Dean; sister Annette Wood; grandson Zachary who would have been 19 in July; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda (Self) Dean; son Patrick Dean and wife Jodi; daughter Jennifer and husband Michael Gerschick; and his five grandchildren, Tayler, Caleb, Jake, Dylan & Sydney, who their Bumpa loved so much.
Arrangements are being made by Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida.
Bills final resting place will be at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Arrangements for a celebration of life are pending, and will be announced in the near future.
