Obituary

Wanda Ruth Woodham, also known as beloved "Mom" to her children, "Nanny" by her grandchildren or Ms. Wanda by many more, was loved by all. At the age of 77, she has become a beautfiul angel resting in Jesus's arms.

Wanda went home to our heavenly father on June 8, 2021 after a hard and well fought battle with dementia. She was born on August 31, 1943 in Apison, Tennessee to Homer and Mary Suits. She was the fifth of seven children and was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Odel Suits, Billy Suits, Edward Suits, Lorraine Bess, Louise Whaley and twin grandsons, Waylan and Wyatt Woodham. She is survived by sisters Sammy Stephens and Peggy Simms.

She was married in 1962 to William "Jerry" Woodham until his passing in 1995. She lived most of her adult life in Dade City, Florida. She never remarried, but instead devoted the rest of her life to God, her children, and her grandchildren. She was an amazing homemaker and loving mother not only to her children, but to anyone who came into her life. She had a spirit of giving that was never ending. Ask anyone who ever visited her home and they will tell you she would always ask, "Are you hungry Do you want something to eat" She loved to cook and was great at it, often preparing her southern specialties like chicken and dumplings, collard greens, and cornbread stuffing at most every family gathering. If she was having guests she would cook twice as much as they could possibly eat because she wanted everyone to have their favorite dish. Personally, we all liked taking home leftovers and there were plenty of them. She loved quiliting and her plants, her yard was a beautiful garden. Her family and church were very important to her.

She is survived by her three children Tony Woodham (wife Laura), Bobbie Barnes (husband Ralph), and Matthew Woodham (wife Angela). In life she doted on her three grandchildren, Brandi Solimanpoor, Kendra Velasco, Matthew Woodham and her three great grandchildren Giovanni, Antonio, and Collin. Her love was felt by many more including numerous nieces and nephews and let us not forget about her cats, she loved her cats.

These words barely scratch the surface of what Wandas life was about. Each of us have our own personal memories of her and they will forever hold a special place in our hearts. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Her life celebration will be held Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City at 11:00 am. Viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on the same day. She will be placed to rest at Chapel Hill Gardens after the service. In honor of Wanda's love of plants, if you are choosing to send flowers, please send live plants instead of cut flowers.
