CDR. Walt Karver, USN retired, 78, passed away unexpectedly Oct 11, 2018. Born in Michigan City, IN and raised in Gary, IN, he married Judy Kominiak in 1965. Graduating from Purdue University with a bachelors degree, he went on to become a naval aviator in 1969. Through his naval career during Vietnam and the Cold War, he flew many different aircraft, served as a LSO, went to the North and South Poles, and attended the Naval War College. Walt retired from the Navy in 1987 after 23 of years service. He then followed on with another career flying for UPS for 18 years and retired in San Antonio, FL. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Judy, son Robert (Jeanne), daughters Karen (Jim Pizzano), Ann Marie (Scott Cunningham), Susan (Jeremy Marshall), 10 grandchildren, sisters Dianne Clapperton and Lorraine Courtney and brother Richard. Viewing will be Wednesday, Oct 17th at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Dade City, FL, followed by a funeral mass.
