In Loving Memory of Walter George Handy, Affectionately Known as "Walt" and "Shorty"
Walter George Handy, known by the endearing names of "Walt" and "Shorty," passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Advent Health in Wesley Chapel, FL. He was 52 years old.
Walt was born on June 25, 1971, in Naha Okinawa, Japan. He was the cherished child of Charles Arthur Handy and Hatsuko Handy Walker (Joshua Walker). Among his loving family were his siblings: John Handy, Jan Ramley, Julia Walker, Joanna Walker Sanchez, and his beloved sister Yumi Romero and his brother Michael Romero Sr.
On June 23, 2023, Walt entered into the union of marriage with his devoted spouse, Rhea Handy, in a beautiful ceremony at the Handy Residence in Fremont, CA.
Education held a significant place in Walt's life. He graduated from Victor Valley High School and further pursued his passion at DeVry University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Walt's professional journey led him to become a New Product Introduction Manager at KLA, a role he dedicated himself to for an impressive 29 years.
Over the course of his life, Walt called both Fremont, CA and Wesley Chapel, FL home. He embraced a wide array of interests and hobbies, including his love for sports cars, paintball, snowboarding, running, hiking, attending beer festivals, and indulging in games on various platforms, from Xbox to PlayStation and Nintendo. His competitive spirit extended to wrestling and he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the California State CIF Championships in the 98 lbs weight class.
Walt's adventurous spirit knew no bounds, and he found joy in exploring new places, all while savoring his favorite craft beers. He relished in playing board games such as Risk, Settlers of Catan, and Dungeons and Dragons, and his eclectic taste in entertainment ranged from classic action movies to the beloved musical "Grease," and even the charm of B, C, and D rated films.
Walt leaves behind a legacy of love and memories. He is survived by his loving spouse, Rhea Handy, and their children Charleen Handy and Arthur Handy. He also leaves behind his son, Arthur Handy, and his former wife, Victoria M Handy, who became an integral part of his life's journey.
His memory lives on through his parents, Charles Arthur Handy and Hatsuko Handy Walker (Joshua Walker), as well as his siblings: John Handy, Jan Ramley, Julia Walker, Joanna Walker Sanchez, and his cherished sister, Yumi Romero and his brother Michael Romero Sr. Additionally, he shared a special bond with his faithful companion, Mochi Handy, a beloved pet who brought him endless joy.
