March 12, 1932 – January 31, 2026
Walter C. Hill passed away leaving behind a legacy of service, knowledge, and devotion to family.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Melanie Matison and Amanda Kate Hill; his wife, Myrtle Hill; and his parents, W. Byron and Bessie Hill.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Sally Morrissey; his sister, Sylvia Hill; his granddaughter, Amanda Cordes; his grandson, Brian Morrissey; his great-grandson, Brayden Cordes; and his cousin, Carl Hill.
A proud Marine veteran, Walter served his country during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a realtor and appraiser of fine antiques, where his keen eye and appreciation for history were well known. His love of history extended beyond his profession, as he also served as a longtime docent at the Ringling Home in Sarasota, generously sharing his knowledge with visitors for many years.
Walter was a graduate of Zephyrhills High School, Class of 1951, and remained proud of his roots throughout his life. He was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Lakeland.
Family will gather for a graveside service on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens Mausoleum in Dade City, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
