Obituary

Wallace L. Lukow, of San Antonio, FL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Gulfside Hospice facility in Zephyrhills, FL with his wife of 65 years, Dolores, at his side. He was born June 23, 1919 in Holstein, NE (one of three children) to Fred & Hannah Lukow. In October 1940, Wallace enlisted in the U.S. Navy (World War II) and served until October 1946. Upon discharge, Wallace started his custom harvesting business in 1948 and shortly thereafter met Dolores Choquette (1949) and they married January 22, 1951. Side by side, Wallace and Dolores worked in their combine business for 37 years, traveling from Texas to the Canadian border. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife Dolores; 2 sons: Eugene and Steven, daughter-in-law Camille, brother Verdon, sister-in-law Doris; and three grandchildren. After wintering 16 years in Arizona, Wallace and Dolores moved to the Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club in San Antonio, FL in 1999 where they enjoyed a totally different lifestyle to the combine business. He enjoyed golf and pool in the early days but was always an ardent sports spectator, particularly basketball and women's softball. Military graveside services will be held 2pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
