Obituary

Vernon D. Packard of Zephyrhills, Florida and formerly of West Gardiner, Maine passed away July 14, 2015. Son of Vernon B and Emma Grinell Packard. He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He worked for SD Warren, York Town Paper Mills and retired from CMP. He was an avid outdoorsman. Over the years he enjoyed skiing, tree farming, square dancing, camping, snowmobiling and motorcycling. Some of his memberships included, Masons, NRA, and he volunteered at the Gardiner food pantry. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Billie Ann McCaslin. Survivors include 2 daughters, Janet Heal of Salina, Kansas and Susan Worden of Zephyrhills, Florida; 6 grandchildren, Wendy Strout, Sara-Jan Smith, Peggy Black, Teresa Reynolds, Vernon Travis Smith and Rene Thibodeau, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, Cameron Brassbridge; a brother, Norman and wife Susan Packard and of Garland, Maine; a sister in law, Josephine McCaslin of Plymouth, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife; sister, Flora Perrin; brothers, George and Stephen Packard. A service will take place August 10th at 9 am in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt Vernon Ave. Augusta Maine.
