Vada Hawk, age 93, of Ridge Manor, FL, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024, in Dade City, FL. She was born on December 20, 1930, in Duggar, IN, the daughter of Oliver Butler Sr. and Clara Bell Vaught Butler. Vada was the youngest daughter among her loving siblings, including two sisters and seven brothers. On August 5, 1950, Vada married the love of her life, Leonard Hawk, at Duggar Methodist Church in Duggar, IN. Together, they raised two children, Carla and Gilbert (Gil). Vada was a dedicated mother and homemaker who later pursued a career outside the home. She began her professional journey as a bank teller and later found her passion working for the local school district, initially as a baker and eventually as the Cafeteria Manager. Vada was a woman of profound faith and an active member of her community. She derived great joy from teaching adult Sunday school and leading Bible studies. Her commitment to spiritual growth extended to organizing a weekly women's Bible study, which she faithfully led until her final days. Known for her culinary talents, Vada was an exceptional baker and cook. She delighted her family and friends with her delicious creations throughout her life. Vada also had a passion for crocheting intricate Afghans, crafting one-of-a-kind pieces for her children, grandchildren, and countless friends. Vada is survived by her son Gilbert (Gil) Hawk and his wife Cathy; three granddaughters, Meagan Modlin, Jennifer Ferryman, and Lindsey Campbell; seven great-grandchildren, Nick, Payton, Carter, Sydney, Cailee, Chloe, and Emersyn. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leonard, daughter Carla, sisters Lucille and Louise, and brothers Dale, Con, Oliver Jr., Kyle, Kenny, and HalDean. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. A time of visitation will take place prior to service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Vada will be laid to rest beside her husband Leonard and daughter Carla. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
