Tom Anderson, 76 of Dade City, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Zephyrhills. He was born on July 8, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Vayden L. & Bertha McMahon Anderson and moved to this area 50 years ago from Arcadia, FL. He retired as a Florida State Trooper with 35 years of distinguished service. After his retirement, he went on to work as an investigator for the Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative. Tom served as the moral compass for a large family and numerous friends. He provided wisdom, guidance and comfort to all. He was a humble follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a citrus grower, he cared for the land and the wildlife that surrounded his home. He was active with the Dade City Masonic Lodge, the American Association of State Troopers, the Florida Association of State Troopers and actively supported the Shepherds Chapel in Gravette, AR. Tom is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 56 years: Dolly Anderson, Dade City, FL; son: Rickey Anderson, Venus, FL; daughters: Robbi Black and her husband David, Fort Pierce, FL, Paula Allen and her husband Chuck, Jacksonville, FL; brother: Gene Anderson and his wife Rena, Tuscaloosa, AL; daughter-in-law: Susan Barnett and her husband Mike, Tampa, FL; 6 grandchildren: Chad Anderson, Katherin Black, Tim Allen, Roxie Allen, Emily Allen, Justin Beaumont. Funeral services will take place 2pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Tom was a champion of American soldiers.
