Timothy Scott
Thatcher
Jan 28, 1965 — Jul 8, 2026
Timothy Scott Thatcher, a decorated United States Marine Corps scout sniper and vessel manager for Biehl & Co. in Tampa, died of a broken heart on July 8, 2026, at his home in Dade City, Florida. He was 61.
Tim never recovered from the death of his beloved wife, Jennifer ("Jenn") Lee Bradshaw Thatcher, 52, of Dade City, Florida, who passed away on June 29, 2025. He frequently said, "I miss my Jenny."
Before working at Biehl & Co., Tim worked at Sea & Land Shipping for 34 years, where he was a logistics coordinator for vessels calling on the Port of Tampa, coordinating inspections, customs clearance and port operations for ships arriving from around the world. He also owned and operated a transportation business.
Tim was a hard worker, often traveling to the Port of Tampa in the middle of the night and working long hours. He helped care for cows and bulls on the Bradshaw family farm in Dade City. He had a strong work ethic and could fix almost anything. He loved his dogs, Chloe, Sassy and Buggy.
Before beginning his maritime career, Tim served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he graduated as the Honor Graduate of the 2nd Marine Division Scout-Sniper School in 1987. He later received the Navy Achievement Medal in 1988 for his service as Chief Scout with the Regimental Intelligence Section, Regimental Landing Team Two, 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic. Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island. He served in Okinawa and completed desert and Arctic training.
Tim grew up in Gainesville, Florida. He attended Santa Fe High School and graduated from Fallston High School in Maryland. As a child, he competed at the state level in cross country, swam competitively, ran track and played football. Many of his happiest memories were growing up with his sisters in Gainesville, playing in the woods, climbing the Big Oak, swimming in Florida's cold-water springs and camping at the beach. He was known for his big heart, quick wit and creative practical jokes.
Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jenn; his mother, Jeanette Escue; his father-in-law, Leo Bradshaw; his grandparents, Muriel and William P. Thatcher and Ida and Edward Yurek; his uncle, Donald Wernz; and his cousin, Edward Wernz.
He is survived by his stepson, Shaun O'Hara of Dade City; his mother-in-law, Carol Bradshaw of Dade City, who loved him as a son; his father and stepmother, Dr. William and Marie-Joelle Thatcher of Gainesville; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Blake Kresl of Dallas; his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Jeff Weinsier of Hollywood, Florida; his former wife, Ellen Tracy Jankoski; his stepgrandchildren, Ahliya and Deja Jankoski; his niece and nephew, Lucie and Will Kresl; his nephews, Jack and Drew Weinsier; his niece, Carly Weinsier; his cherished aunt, Julie Wernz; and his cousins, David Wernz and Kristi Leigh Girdner.
Memorial services are pending.
