Thomas R. Roland, died unexpectedly on January 3, 2023, in Dade City, Florida. Thomas was born on October 12, 1931, in New York and lived in Lockport, Illinois from 1966-2002. Thomas was a lifelong member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers. Thomas worked at International Harvester, Johnson & Johnson, Honeywell, Lockformer, and IL Environmental Protection Agency. Thomas was a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. While living in Florida he was an active member at Shepherd of the Hills Church where he played the bells. Together, Carolyn and Thomas enjoyed being in bowling leagues. In his past time, he enjoyed reading books pertaining to history. Thomas and Carolyn loved to travel the United States, spending time visiting their great-grandchildren and site seeing. Thomas is survived and missed by his loving wife, Carolyn of 25 years, and his children Blanche Roland, Yvonne (Bob) Taylor II, Thomas (Heidi) Roland, Cheryl Theis, Bill Wyer, and Chris Lauffer. Forever cherished and remembered by his 9 grandchildren: Bobby Taylor III, Daniel Roland, Emily (Kyle) Thompson, Troy Lauffer, Joseph (Samantha) Jackson, LaChelle & Erich Eisnaugle, Alexis & Anthony Villarreal; Granddaughter-in-law: Quiana Roland. His memory lives on with his numerous great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as with his countless friends and extended family. Thomas entered eternal rest with his first wife Dorothy (mother of his children) and his grandson, Brian (Quiana) Roland. All people die, but not all people live. Tom LIVED. Just think of everything he has witnessed in his 91 years of life from technology, to cost of living, to wars, to medical advancements, etc. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Shephard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Dade City, Florida.
