T.G. "Jerry" Rice, age 78, of Dade City, FL passed away peacefully on March 16, 2020 with his family at his bedside. Jerry graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics in 1965. After graduation he and his young wife Pam along with their first born son Edwin moved to Dade City, Florida where Jerry began his long career with Lykes Pasco, Incorporated. Jerrys first position with Lykes was in sales handling the Northeastern United States. Jerry served in many roles throughout his career with Lykes and retired in 1998 after having served as President and Chief Operating Officer.
Throughout his career and well into retirement, Jerry served on many boards including: the Florida Citrus Commission, The Florida Citrus Processors Association (President), National Juice Products Association (President), Gulf Citrus Growers Association, Southwest Florida Water Management District (Chairman) and the Withlacoochee River Basin Board (Chair ex Officio).
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Pamela Sue, their two boys Edwin (Liz) and Kelly (Kathy), mother-in-law Norma Gorsuch, sister-in-law Cheri Gorsuch, his four grandchildren: Shelton (Kaitlyn), Winston, Alex, and Erin and his great-grandson Everett (Shelton) and many close friends.
A closed family memorial service will soon be held followed by a celebration of Jerrys life on a date to be determined. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
