Suzanne T. O'Connell, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Ridge Manor, Fla., on April 16, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; son Raymond T.; siblings Cornelius "Buddy" Lynch and Mary Lynch Grey.Sue was born in N.Y., N.Y. She was a graduate of Central Islip State Hospital School of Nursing, received her Bachelor's degree from NYIT, and was employed as school nurse teacher in the Central Islip school district. She was a past president of the Central Islip Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Whispering Oaks Ladies Golf League. Sue was a member of St. Anne's RC Church in Ridge Manor, Fla. She and her husband, Ray, retired to Florida in 1980 and spent many years summering in Skaneateles Lake, N.Y.Sue was active and energetic, playing her last round of golf several weeks before her death. She enjoyed book club, traveling, playing Mahjong and Bridge, and was a talented artist. She was the consummate caretaker, always willing to listen, and quick to offer comfort and support. She loved to entertain, laugh, and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She had a unique ability to make lifelong friends wherever she went, and was a source of inspiration to many. Sue will be so very missed.Sue is survived by her daughter Catherine (Jay) Yeomans; grandsons Jonathan, PJ and Timothy, all of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on April 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City. Funeral Mass will be on April 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Annes RC Church in Ridge Manor. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushel, Fla. Donations may be made to Hernando County Hospice or a charity of ones choice. Visitation
