Obituary

On Friday, May 6, 2022, Susan S. Schrader, loving mother, loyal friend, and avid animal lover, passed away at the age of 65.

Susan was born on March 15, 1957, in Dade City, Florida to Albert and Ruth Spencer.

She spent 20+ years working as a legal secretary for Larry Hersch Esq., then spent the remainder of her career working as an assistant for Circuit Court Judge, Alicia Polk. Susan was a hard worker, and truly loved what she did for a living. If you work in the legal field in the Pasco County area chances, are you have spoken with Susan at one point or another. A lifelong resident of Dade City, Susan was a familiar face and warm smile to many. She had an infinity for sweet treats and a fairly large sweet tooth. She always had candy and treats to offer guests and clients. Like a true Southern woman, she didnt like people to leave with empty hands or an empty stomach. Susan was a fiercely loyal mother and friend. Susan remained single for the majority of her adult life and poured all of herself into her only daughter, Bess, her career, and her loved ones. Being a mother was something that made her shine, and for the lucky ones she took under her wing along the way, they also felt that one-of-a-kind, motherly love. Susan was creative, organized, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

When her health took a decline in 2020 her whole life shifted. She went from being a working, independent woman living on her own to having to retire and move into an assisted living facility relying heavily on others. Through it all, she showed such bravery and strength that was evident all the way until her passing. She was a very special soul who made the world a better place just by simply being a part of it and will go on living in the hearts of the many who were fortunate enough to have crossed her path.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Albert Spencer, mother, Ruth Spencer, and brother, Gregory (Speedy) Spencer.

She is survived by her daughter, Bess (Nick) Knickerbocker, three nephews, Luke Spencer, Will Spencer, and Aaron Spencer, and her honorary daughters, Tori (Schrader) Danushevsky, Alicia Polk, Katie (Hill) Casillas, and Lucy (Hill) Meyer.
