Steven Herbert Fitzgerald, 78, passed away on November 19th, 2025, at his home in Land O' Lakes, Florida. He was born to his parents, Herbert and Helen Fitzgerald on May 8th, 1947, in Buckhannon, West Virginia. There, he grew up with his sister, Sharon Fitzgerald.

Steven married the love of his life, Madge Fitzgerald, on August 24th, 1968.

From 1966-1969, Steven attended Bryan College. Ten years later, he attended Oklahoma University from 1976-1977, and Old Dominion in 1979. Steven joined the United States Air Force in 1973, where he began a long and fruitful career as a Fighter Pilot. He earned the Air Force Longevity Award, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Award, and many others. In 1984, he joined the Department of Defense as an Intelligence Officer. He would achieve the National Defense Service Medal prior to his retirement.

Being in the Air Force, Steven had the opportunity to live in many locales, such as Washington D.C.; Okinawa, Japan; Akron, Ohio; Sacramento, California; and Charleston, West Virginia. Steven would eventually settle in Pasco County, Florida, in Land O' Lakes.

Steven enjoyed basketball and speculating on current politics, but more than anything, Steven loved spending time with his dear children and grandchildren.

Steven is predeceased by his wife, Madge Fitzgerald, and his son, Ryan Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his sister, Sharon Fitzgerald; daughter, Kendra Fitzgerald; sons, Brendan and Colin Fitzgerald; granddaughters Melody Butler, Annabella Fitzgerald, and Gabriella Fitzgerald; and grandsons, Anthony Butler and Tyler Fitzgerald; as well as many friends and pets.

Steven's services will be held on Monday, December 1st, 2025, beginning at 9AM at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills, Florida.
