Obituary

Rouer, Shirley Jean (nee Light) of Dade City, Florida, died January 8, 2015. Shirley had retired from a career as a secretary at Oak Rubber Manufacturing, St. Mark Lutheran Church and First Congregational Church in the Akron, Ohio area. Shirley moved to Florida in 1999 and enjoyed living in the Southfork Community. Shirley volunteered for many jobs and services in the Southfork and Dade City areas including librarian, meal assistance and with student reading programs in the local schools.Shirley was born on June 9, 1933 in Akron, Ohio to Eugene R. Light and Dolores E. Light. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles W. Chuck Rouer and her sister, Ina Surgen. She is survived by her brother, Raymond (Mary) Light of Akron, Ohio, sons Richard (Peg) Baird of Marion, Ohio, Martin Baird of Louisville, Ohio, and Jim (Alice) Baird of Jacksonville, Florida. Shirley was proud of her nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and nieces and nephew. Shirley was very fond of her special friends and caretakers Ruth and John Clemons.The Hodges Funeral Home of Dade City is in charge of arrangements. No memorial service is planned. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the charity or hospice association of the donors choice.
