Shirley Ann Burkett 81, of Dade City passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born June 22, 1937 in Tabor City, NC to Woodrow Wilson & Ora Mae Powell Norris and moved to Dade City 71 years ago. She was known as "Mom Burkett" to many kids around the area and served as the school nurse at Pasco Comprehensive High School for 25 years. She was an active and vibrant member in a number of organizations including the Fort Dade Baptist Church, the Dade City Little League Program, Pasco County Old Timers Picnic Association, Mt. Zion Cemetery Association, Order of the Eastern Star, Pasco County Fair Association, Florida West Coast Fox Hunter's Association and the King Lake Fishing Club.

Shirley is survived by her daughter: Cindy Burkett, son: Tim & Gail Burkett, grandson: Wade & Nicole Burkett, great grandson: Matthew Burkett, sisters: Hilda Fialko & Elwanda Ard, special daughter: Lisa Crall and granddaughter: Courtney. She was preceded in death by her husband: Billy Burkett, parents: Woodrow & Ora Mae Norris, brother Worley Norris and sister Lila Fields.

Funeral Services will be held 1pm Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing from 5-7pm Saturday evening at the funeral home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in her memory to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
