Obituary

JOHNSON, Sherri (Hawkins) 57, passed peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2014, at her home in Dade City surrounded by family. Sherri is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, David R. Johnson; two daughters, Lindsay Johnson (30) and Danielle Mercer (32); and three siblings, Kenny Hawkins, Andy Hawkins, and Vicky Johnson. She loved her grandson, Jack Johnson and all of her nieces and nephews very much. Sherri was born in Cambridge, MA, on Oct. 4, 1956 to the late Clive and Joann Hawkins. She and her family moved to Tampa in 1969 while she was 13 years old, and graduated from King High School in 1974. Sherri met her future husband when she was just 17. They were married in 1974, two weeks after she turned 18. Dave and Sherri eventually moved to Dade City where together they opened Craftsman Manufacturing and worked side by side for 29 years. Sherri was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Sherri will truly be missed. We will cherish these memories of her deep in our hearts forever. Remembrance services and celebration will be conducted at Fort Desoto Park,3500 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde, FL 33715(Shelter 14 East Beach)on Friday, May 16,at 10:30 am, followed by lunch and a celebration of Sherri's life. Casual attire is encouraged. Parking is $5 cash or credit. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gulfside Hospice(donate.ghppc.org).If you would like to bring something to the luncheon please contact immediate family for instructions. Also, we plan to stay at the beach all day if you would like to spend a beautiful day enjoying God's precious gift of time together with family and friends.
