LaFerney (Comer), Sheila DianeDurand, MI & Zephyrhills, FLSheila Diane LaFerney, age 73, died Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her home fromcomplications related to her courageous battle with breast cancer. There will be viewing andvisitation Wednesday, November 10, 2021 11 AM - 1 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home,36327 FL-54, Zephyrhills, FL, 33541. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, November13, 2021 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. HIll Rd., Flint, MI 48507. Pastor Jerry Fosterofficiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation 5 - 8 PM Friday, November 12, 2021 and 10- 11 AM Saturday, November 13, 2021. Sheila was born at home in Flint, MI on June 29, 1948.She graduated from Grand Blanc High School and Michigan School of Cosmetology. Shemarried her high school sweetheart, Jerry Lynn LaFerney, in Mundy Township, MI on July 29,1966. They had two daughters, Jeri Lynn (LaFerney) Kaupp, and Jodi Diane (LaFerney) Dobbs.They were blessed with four grandchildren: Cameron Grace Kaupp, Cacia Adair Kaupp, GavinJameson Russ, Evan Harrison Russ. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, her pride andjoy. In fact, her daughters jokingly say she liked her grandbabies more than them! She was amember of Riverdale Baptist Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Genesee CountyCosmetology Association and member of their Styles Body Committee. She loved music,dancing, mystery and action movies, and especially classic detective t.v. shows. She lovedreading, especially Agatha Christie, bowling, golfing, going to Bronners, and going to Cancun,Mexico. Sheila was beautiful inside and out, loving, generous, fun, passionate about her beliefsand often outspoken. She cherished her time with her family and friends. Once you were herfriend, you were her family. Sheila especially loved Christmas; was known for decorating her"Christmas House", and loved to leave the decorations up as long as possible. Jerry and Sheilaraised their children in Grand Blanc, and then built their dream home in Durand. Zephyrhills, FLbecame their beloved second home, where Sheila loved dearly her community and circle ofwonderful friends. Surviving are husband Jerry; children Jeri and Jodi; grandchildren Cameron,Cacia, Gavin, and Evan; brothers John Comer and wife Jan; Barry "Mike" Comer, Kevin Comer;many special nieces, nephews, friends, and family. She was preceded in death by her parentsDaniel and Laura Comer, Al and Grace Semish; sisters, Myrna Lynch, Easter Horton, SandraDority; son in law, Keith Kaupp. Family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Dotson,Florida Cancer Specialists, Seasons Hospice of Wesley Chapel, Mary Mack, and her othercaretakers. Finally, thank you to Riverdale Baptist Church and the extended prayer chains offamily and friends that have showered the family with love, support, and prayers. In lieu offlowers, family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation, Wigs forKids, or any cancer support of POW / MIA charities of your choice.
