IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila May
Hewitt
December 5, 1952 – September 9, 2025
Sheila (Osenbaugh) Hewitt, 72, of San Antonio, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
Sheila was born on December 5, 1952, in Elmira, New York, to Tommie and Mary Osenbaugh. She later made Florida her home, where she built a life filled with family, love, and community.
She married the love of her life, Richard Hewitt, and together they shared 48 years of devotion, laughter, and cherished memories. Raising a family was her greatest joy, and she was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who treasured the bonds of family above all else.
Sheila spent her career working diligently before enjoying her well-earned retirement. In her free time, she loved giraffes, found joy in knitting, and was especially dedicated to creating handmade pieces for charities. Her giving heart, sense of humor, and warmth touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hewitt; her children, Lorrie (Byron) Case, Molly Lee, Christina (Troy), and Jennifer Hewitt; her sisters, Janet Osenbaugh, Debbie (Roger) Flasphaler, Cathy (Jerome) Domineske, and Jackie (Alan) Cecce; as well as 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Mary Osenbaugh, and her great-granddaughter, Gianna Lynn.
A celebration of Sheila's life will be held at the American Legion Post 154. The date will be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Chemung County.
Sheila will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family.
