Shawn Keenan Chalk was a master tattoo artist whose creative journey began in 1996. He was the proud owner of several tattoo shops, including City on the Hill Tattoo Shop in Ocala, FL – a family-run studio known for its quality, originality, and heartfelt craftsmanship. His artistic roots rand deep, starting with painting, sign painting, and various traditional mediums before he dedicated his life to tattooing. Shawn developed strong, lasting ties within the Florida tattooing community and shared his gift around the world. He also lived for a period of time in New Orleans, where the vibrant culture profoundly shaped his art and sparked his passion for food.

Outside of his artistry, Shawn loved cooking and found peace in the great outdoors – especially while fishing. He cherished animals, plants, and music, embracing the beauty in all forms of life. His greatest joy, however, was the deep love he had for his children, Gracie and Zane; they were the light of his world.

In 2014, Shawn accepted Jesus as his Savior – a transformation that deeply influenced his approach to life, art, and the people he served. Known as a gentle giant, Shawn touched countless lives with his kindness, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Norbert Chalk, and is survived by his parents, James "Ron" and Susan (Sue) Peterson; sisters, Heather Reed (Darrell) and Nicole Peterson (Jonathan); his children, Gracie and Zane; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the many people whose lives were forever impacted by his presence. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13th, 2025, 11am at Relevant Church, 1704 N 16th St Tampa, FL 33605.
