IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Diane
Strain
January 3, 1942 – January 25, 2020
Sharon Diane Strain nee (King) was born 1-3-1942 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on January 25, 2020 in Wesley Chapel, FL at the age of 78.
Working as a nurse at Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi, California, she met the love of her life, her husband James Strain Jr. They had two children at Lodi Memorial Hospital, Michele Ann Ansorge (Strain) and James Dow Strain III.
They moved back to Wisconsin where she worked as a nurse in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She applied to a new program offered in Marshfield, WI to be a Physician Assistant. She was accepted into the second graduating class and was the first female Physician Assistant to graduate in the state of Wisconsin in 1975.
She worked in various places but most fondly remembers her time working on the Stockbridge Munsee Reservation in Central Wisconsin. By 1987 They decided that they wanted to move to a warmer climate and headed south to Bullhead City, Arizona. They lived there until the passing of her husband James in 2008 and her retiring from the Physician Assistant profession after 33 years.
She leaves behind her 2 children, Michele Ann Ansorge (Strain) and James Dow Strain III; hergranddaughter, Madison Diane Ansorge; her brother, John Barry Dunsworth; sister, Deborah Jean Diefenderfer and all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Harriet Dunsworth; and her younger brother, Robert Dunsworth.
Besides her profound dedication to her patients during her career as a nurse and Physician Assistant she was an avid genealogist. Her love and devotion to her family was immeasurable. What we will remember her most for is her smile and laughter, her love of life, and most of all her wild spirit. We know that Sharon will be kicking up her heels and dancing the night away with a margarita in her hands!
