Sandra Elizabeth Bessenger died early Sunday morning, August 30th 2020, at her home in Dade City, Florida. She was born August 8, 1962 at MacDill Air Force Base hospital in Tampa, Florida. When she was one year old, her parents moved to Dade City.
After graduating from Pasco Comprehensive High School, she studied and graduated from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. While there, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority where she made life long friends.
She then put her studies to work at Barnett Bank where she eventually became Vice President.
After she married in 1988, she had 3 children: Frank Leslie Bessenger IV, Samuel Lee (who died at birth), and Sarah Elizabeth Bessenger.
Sandy was survived by her parents H. Richard Smalley VMD and Patricia A. Smalley, Dade City; two brothers Richard Clark Smalley, Bradenton, FL ( his family Ann Faye Smalley, Cecelia Marie Smalley, Kenneth Clark Smalley and Patrick Sullivan Smalley) and James Marten Smalley, Dade City, FL (his family Katherine Ryann Smalley and Zane Jarrett Smalley in Wichita, KS). Also, an Aunt Joanna Yost, husband Carl and their families; and three Bessenger families as well as many friends from PCHS and Stetson.
Her death was caused by complications from her Multiple Sclerosis which she battled for the last 6 years.
