Samuel Lawrence (Larry) McClellan, Sr- 91 of Ridge Manor, Florida (formerly of Tampa, Florida) died in the early morning hours of August 29, 2013, peacefully at home.Born February 27, 1922 in Lloyd, Fl. on his Grandfather's plantation. He was stricken with polio at the age of 1. Larry never let his his handicap get him down. He graduated from Jefferson High School. He also received a business degree from the University of Tampa. Later, retiring from Florida Steel Corp. after many years. Larry was a friend to everyone that he met. He used to say that "a stranger is just a friend that you haven't met yet." He was a kind and gentle man. He leaves many friends and family to mourn.Preceeded in death by his sons, Samuel Lawrence McClellan, Jr and Mark Edward McClellan. Survived by his wife, Christine McClellan; son, Skip McClellan (Cathy) of Lamont, F. and daughter, Donna Washburn (Barry) of Brooksville, Fl. Daughter in law, Amanda McClellan (Thomasville, Ga.)Sisters: Hazel Fedrick (Tx) and Mary Margaret Thomas (Fl.). He is also survived by Grandsons: Russ McClellan (Ivy), Aaron McClellan (Rhea), Jacob Zorn (Jacqueline), Zachariah Zorn and Braden Washburn.; Grandaughters: Diann McClellan Arnold, Heather Gardner (Louis), Angelia McClellan; Rachel McClellan and Samantha McClellan.Larry also had 16 great Grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly. Memorial Services will be held at Hodges Funeral Home 11441 US Hwy 301. Dade City, Florida on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00. The Family requests that no flowers be sent. Contributions may be made instead to HPH Hospice, Dade City, Fl or South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation in Larry's honor.
