Obituary

MARTINEZ, SAMUEL of Wesley Chapel, passed away on the night of Monday, September 29, 2014. He was born in New York City on April 9, 1937. He is survived by his wife, Iris D. Martinez, 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, 1 brother, and his dog, Rocky. Samuel was preceded in death by 4 brothers, 1 sister, and beloved daughter, MariaTeresa Martinez. In 1954, he joined the United States Army and then transferred to the Air Force Reserves. He was honorably retired as a MSgt in 1997 after proudly serving our country for more than 28 years. In December 1986 he retired from the New York City Transit Authority, where he was a Motorman for over 20 years. He loved surrounding himself with family and friends, taking potshots at everyone in jest. Samuel had a unique way of making you laugh and making you feel welcomed and loved. His favorite pastimes included traveling, listening to good music, and cooking. He enjoyed piloting airplanes, as well as flying his remote control model airplanes. He was a member of the Dade City Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed target shooting and had a passion for firearms. Interment will be held at Bushnell National Cemetery, 10 October 2014 at 1130 hours.
