Salvatore (Sam) was born on September 11, 1946, and passed away on May 27, 2023, after a long illness. Sam graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1964, then served in the United States Airforce for 4 years. After serving his country he worked for Montgomery Ward where he met the love of his life Rita (Castro). Sam and Rita were married in March of 1971. They went on to have two children, Samantha & Jeffrey. Sam was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always taught them to stand tall, be proud, and supported them all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties of their lives. Sam enjoyed traveling with Rita and just spending time with his family. He leaves behind his wife (Rita), and two children Samantha Badgley (Shawn), Palmetto, FL, and Jeffrey Versace, Tampa, FL. His grandchildren that he adored, Breanna Blacketer (Chad) and Kole Versace. Sam passed knowing that he would be blessed with a great-grandchild in November, baby boy Blacketer. He is predeceased by his parents Salvatore & Nicoletta Versace. He also leaves behind two brothers, Mark Versace (Lynette), The Villages, Fl & Paul Versace, Massachusetts, and a sister Colette, Sun City Center, FL. Two brothers-in-law, Armand Castro (Bonnie), Bradenton, FL, and Jim Castro, Virginia Beach, VA. Two sister-in-laws Molly Castro (Ernie), Rome, NY, and Lucille Castro, GA, and brother-in-law Ed Castro (deceased). Private funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11441 US Highway 301, Dade City, FL 33525.
