Ruth Carol Benz Register-McCall went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2015. She is survived by two loving sons, Ron and Scott Register; four sisters, Billie Mannheimer, Polly and Jody Nelson, and Marla McLaughlin; three brothers, Gep and Bill Nelson, and Chuck McLaughlin; seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McCall; her parents Wilbert Benz and Martha McLaughlin; and three siblings, Bert and Bob Benz, and Elaine McLaughlin. Ruth was born October 1, 1941 and was raised in South Tampa. A graduate of Plant High School and the University of South Florida, she went on to get a masters degree from the Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. She taught school in Hillsborough County, Missouri, and Kansas before retiring from the Pasco County School system. A service will be held at her home on Saturday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
