Russell Davies Dally, 95, of Zephyrhills, FL, died Sunday, July 15, 2018. Russ was born on December 11, 1922, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Alice and Russell Dally. He attended elementary school in Brookline and moved to Peters Township at 15. He graduated from Peters Township High School in 1941, He then attended Waynesburg College until he enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1942. Russ was a Sergeant in World War II with the South Pacific Marine Division until 1945, He was later drafted into the Korean War from 1950-1951.Russ met the love of his life, Shirley Jane McConnell (deceased), during his early childhood. They married on October 9, 1950, and had their daughter, Victoria Lynn (Robert) Clarke (deceased) on June 23, 1951, in Wilmington, NC.In 1951, Russ moved back to Peters Township with his wife and child, He worked at Massey Buick until he retired in 1982, He was an avid admirer of automobiles. They moved to Canonsburg in 1958 where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and golfing with his wife.Russ and Shirley moved to Zephyrhills, FL in 1997. Where he lived until his wife passed away in January 2018. They had enjoyed playing golf together and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed piloting airplanes and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Their beloved cat, Tom, still resides there with loving neighbors. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his family with all of his heart.Russ was a lifetime member of the Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray, PA. He was also a member of the Chartiers Masonic Lodge 297 for 50+ years.Russ was predeceased by his parents, Russell Harold Dally and Alice Matilda Dally, his beloved Shirley Jane (McConnell) Dally, and his daughter, Victoria Lynn (Dally) Clarke. He is survived by his three grandchildren Amanda (Daniel) Greene, Jordan Clarke, and Ashley Clarke; his great grand-children Ethan and Dexter Greene; and many nieces and nephews. Russ had a special relationship with his nephew, Bob (Jan) Guthrie.Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chartiers Masonic Lodge 297.
