Rivera, Rudolph Lawrence "Larry", 94, of Dade City, died Thursday October 25, 2018.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, he served in the Army from March 23, 1943 to March 4, 1946 where he was part of the Pacific Ocean Theater of WW2, stationed in Guadalcanal.

After the war he studied psychology and graduated from San Diego State University, San Diego, CA. After college he joined the U.S. Diplomatic Corps in Asuncion, Paraguay becoming a career Diplomat with posts in countries on multiple continents; where he served in Paraguay, Honduras, The Philippines, Spain and Mexico. Ending an illustrious career as the United States Consul General residing in Guadalajara, Mexico, he retired to Tampa, Florida with his second wife, Victoria Meier-Rivera, later moving to Dade City, where he spent the rest of his days.

Larry is survived by his children, Stella Rivera Besser, John Rivera, Patricia Rivera, Sherry Coker-Cameron, Edward Meier, nine grandchildren, Emme Cameron, James Besser, Jason Besser, Wendy Rivera, Albert Rivera, Stephanie Merker, Rachel Meier, Erin Meier Cash, Alanna Meier, and eight great grandchildren.A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 1pm to 2pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, FL. A memorial service will begin at 2pm with Ken Littlefield officiating.
