Ruben Contreras, Sr, 86, of Dade City passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born March 9, 1934, in Tamazula, Jalisco to Ramon and Maria Contreras.

In 1965, Mr. Contreras married Josefina Contreras in Tamazula.

He was a migrant worker for most of his life, until he was disabled in 1989 due to a motor vehicle accident. He was a loving and caring man, who loved to crack jokes and make everyone laugh. He became a proud US citizen on October 26, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Josefina Contreras; 12 brothers and 6 sisters; Children: Ana Hernandez, Irma Montelongo, Hector Contreras, Angelica Contreras, Cesar Contreras, Sergio Contreras, Ruben Contreras, Carmen Contreras, and Felipe Contreras; 30 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Maria Contreras and sister, Margarita Contreras.

Funeral service was held by immediate family members on March 28, 2020 at Hodges Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
