Roy Elliott Walker, 93, of Zephyrhills, Florida, was called home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 14, 2026.
Born in Dover, Florida, on January 21, 1934, Roy was the son of the late Roy Evans Walker and Ruth Adele Walker. He spent his career as an oil and gas tanker truck driver for Fina, BP Oil, and J.H. Williams Oil Company in Tampa. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Roy faithfully served his country before dedicating much of his life to serving the Lord. He was a deacon in several churches throughout the Tampa area, faithfully supported missions, and never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel wherever he went.
Roy is survived by his loving daughter, Denise Chancey; his son, Randy Walker and his wife, Linda; his sister, Donna Kelley and her husband, Harry; his grandchildren, Eric Chancey and his wife, Amy Jason Chancey; Jason Chancey and his wife, Patti; Barb Witt and her husband, Ryan; Ashley Walker Brittain and her husband, Tim; and Joshua Walker and his wife, Stefy; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Ethan, Tristan, Bella, Andrew, Symon, Judah, Paxton, Drew, Mia, Aubrey, and Jaxton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Walker; brother, Thomas Albert Walker; his parents, Roy Evans Walker and Ruth Adele Walker; and his grandmother, Mishia Rayden Cole Walker.
Roy had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. Having learned to cook as a child, he carried that skill and enjoyment throughout his life. He loved singing in the gospel quartet The Lamplighters, reading his Bible, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with his beloved dog, Lulu. Above all, Roy's unwavering faith in God was the foundation of his life, and he faithfully shared that faith with everyone he met.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will take place at Bushnell National Cemetery from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice
