RONALD K. VOGEL(August 30, 1928 - March 2, 2018)Ronald K. Vogel, 89, former resident of Zephyrhills, FL and most recently of the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home in Land O' Lakes, FL peacefully passed away on March 2, 2018 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Evelyn (Flynn) Vogel.He was born in Callicoon, NY in 1928 to John and Mae (Spielmann) Vogel, and spent his childhood on a farm in Youngsville NY. His family moved to Manchester, CT while he was still in school, and he completed his educational years at Howell Cheney Regional Vocational-Technical School. In 1948, he enlisted in the Air National Guard US serving during the Korean Conflict at the Suffolk County Air Force Base in Long Island, NY while also employed with the Southern New England Telephone Co. (SNET). He eventually transferred to Enfield, CT and continued working as a cable splicer and phone installer with SNET for a total of 35 years. He opted to take an early retirement to travel the US in his RV, with his wife. They enjoyed traveling the country meeting many new people, and making friends that would stay in touch with them, for the remainder of their lives.He is survived by two sons, Ronald M. and wife Eleanor (Stannard) of Texas, and Robert S. and wife Jane (Golden) of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Stacy (Richard) Geades of Texas, and Marc Vogel of Texas; and one great-grandson, Tyler. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Edna Vogel, from CT. He is preceded in death by his sister, Marion (Bernard) Humiston of CT, and his brother, Herbert Vogel of CT.The Family wishes to thank Dr. B. Bedi and his staff of Zephyrhills, FL; the staff of Assisting Hands Home Care of Zephyrhills, FL and the staff of Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home of Land O' Lakes, FL for the excellent care they all gave him during his later years of his life.The Family will hold a private funeral and burial service in NY, later in the year.
