Ronald Dean "Wildman" Rogers, a devoted husband, cherished family member, and hard worker, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9th, 2025, in Wesley Chapel, FL, at the age of 89. Born on Tuesday, December 17th, 1935, in Dover, FL, Ronald lived a life marked by service, love, and adventure.
Ronald, affectionately known as "Wildman" by those close to him, proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a Switchman and Conductor with CSX Railroad, where his dedication and hard work earned him the respect of his colleagues and community.
On November 3, 1960, Ronald married the love of his life, Sue Smith, in Tampa, FL. Their enduring marriage was a testament to their deep love and commitment, and together they built a beautiful family. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Sue, and their children: Rebecca Rogers Stringfield, Nancy (Robert) Douglas, and Gary Todd Rogers. His legacy also lives on through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as an extensive family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will all cherish his memory.
Ronald is also survived by his siblings: Wendell (Celia) Rogers, Elaine (Sonny) Lister, Vivian (Patrick) Mirk, Raymond (Pam Berns) Rogers, Willeva (Ludo) Van Den Bogart, and Dana (Jim) Fortinberry and sisters-in-law: Christine Rogers who was married to Taylor Rogers and Martha Rogers who was married to Donald Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie Simmons and James T. Rogers, and his brothers, Donald Rogers and Taylor Rogers.
The family will receive friends during a visitation at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Graveside service to celebrate Ronald's life will follow at Floral Memory Garden, Dade City, Florida, on the same day at 11:00 am.
Ronald Dean "Wildman" Rogers will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his country. His spirit will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
