It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger William West. Roger, of Brooksville Florida, entered this world April 24th, 1948, in Smithfield, West Virginia, departed from us on May 16th, 2026, at 78 years old.

He is proceeded in death by his mother, Ruby Irene West, and father, Claude Ernest West.

He is survived by his sons Kevin (Kimberly) West and Jeffery (Catherine) West, grandchildren Ashley (Jon) Karwowski, Alexis (Kevin) Burns, Nicholas McKnight, Alissa West, Lucas McKnight, Alivia West, Liam West and ten great-grandchildren. Brother and sisters: Larry (Pat) West, Josetta (Frank-Deceased) Sheppard, Cindy (Dave) White, Nancy (Gary) Green, and Sherry Lawson and a great deal of extended family.

Upon graduating from Pickerington High School in 1966, Roger served as a Sergeant in the United States Army with honors. After leaving the military he continued working professionally in the security, construction, and logging industries, eventually retiring to Florida.

Roger was a charismatic storyteller who had never met a stranger. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and a lifelong huntsman and fisherman. He enjoyed a good crossword and making people laugh. He looked forward to the annual Coen reunion where he would compete in horseshoes and showcase his square-dancing skills. Family and friends were the most important to Roger, who loved, and was loved, by many.

Services for Roger will be held on Tuesday May 26th, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home, located at 434 Northfork Road, PO Box 188, Pine Grove, West Virginia 26419. Viewing will be from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Service will be at 2:00pm with graveside service immediately following at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Pine Grove, WV. After service gathering will be at the Jacksonburg Fire Department 93 Buffalo Run Rd. Jacksonburg, WV 26377.
