Obituary

Roger Michael Geise, 76, of Seffner, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on September 7, 2026.

Roger was born on January 7, 1950, in Kenton, Ohio, to Earl and Irene (Dotson) Geise. He was a proud United States Marine who honorably served his country in Vietnam.

Roger dedicated much of his working life to serving his community. He retired from the Hancock County Engineer’s Office, where he worked as a mechanic and snowplow driver. Following his retirement, he continued working for several years as a cement truck driver. A hardworking and dependable man, Roger was never afraid to lend a helping hand. Whether assisting a friend with a project or tackling odd jobs around the house, he was always willing to put his skills to work for someone in need.

Roger was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured his family and took great pride in the people they had become. He was also a lifelong fan of The Ohio State University football team and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found fixing, building, or improving something.

Roger was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Seffner, Florida, where he especially enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School. He gladly gave his time serving snacks to the children and loved seeing them laugh, have fun, and, most importantly, learn about the Lord. Being a small part of making VBS special for the children brought him great joy.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Lu Ann (Thompson) Geise; his son, Steven (Samantha) Geise of Seffner, Florida; and his grandchildren, Noah (Andrea) Geise of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jordan Geise of Dade City, Florida, Rebecca Geise of Seffner, Florida, Amanda (Ethan) Barbee of Tampa, Florida, and Kayla (Lamarr) Battiste of Seffner, Florida. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Terry Hindenlang of Lima, Ohio.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Irene (Dotson) Geise; his sisters, Karen Hindenlang and Cheryl Landon; and his stepbrother, Fred Pringle.

Roger will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the quiet dependability that made him someone his family and friends could always count on. His service to his country, his love for his family, his faith, and his generous spirit will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Seffner, Florida, on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Schmidt will officiate. A private burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
