IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Wade
Thompson
March 27, 1938 – May 15, 2025
Robert (Bob) Wade Thompson, 87, graduated on May 15, 2025, from his God-given calling on earth to his new eternal calling in Heaven. As a young lad while fishing in a creek on his family farm in Huntington, WV, God clearly called him to be a "fisher of men". This calling burned in his heart in every aspect of his ministry throughout life, from pastoring several churches, to pouring his heart into a few missionary opportunities or building for Habitat for Humanity. Even in his golden years, he looked for opportunities every day to lead people to the Lord, or just extend a heartfelt giving hand to someone in need. He would often sing a phrase of the song, "I'll wish I had given Him more." All who knew Him knew He was looking with great anticipation for Jesus to come back soon. He would often sing, "Jesus is Coming Soon". Without question, Bob is now worshipping at the feet of Jesus, and any crowns that await him will be cast at Jesus' feet. In fact Bob often said, "If I have helped somebody along life's way then my living will not be in vain."
Bob is survived by his "Sweet Pea" wife of nearly 30 years, Phyllis Thompson. He thought of her as an angel and treated her like a queen every day of his life. His love for Phyllis was unsurpassable. Survivors also include Bob's three cherished children (Suzanne Shotts, Rob Thompson, and Jonathan Thompson) and their adorable families, as well as one remaining faithful brother, John Thompson, and his lovely family.
Bob's parents, Charles & Mary Thompson, as well as six siblings have preceded him in death but have welcomed him with open arms to Gloryland. We can only imagine the reunion!
Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida, will be hosting a gravesite service on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:30 am at Chapel Hills Gardens Cemetery.
