Robert Wayne Taylor 71
Robert Wayne Taylor of Dade City Florida passed away on July 18, 2022, at the age of 71. He was born on January 5, 1951, in Columbus Georgia.
Wayne grew up in Phoenix City Alabama and attended Troy State University where he also became a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity while pursuing a degree in business and marketing. Wayne loved sports (particularly football and baseball) and also played football for Troy State. Wayne became interested in trucking and it became a passion that would eventually lead to his lifes career focus. He put millions of miles under his wheels working for various companies and hauling a wide variety of loads from bananas to jet fuel to patio stoneshe chose the handle "Lost Cause" that he kept after the CB craze of the 70s and 80s. He was an accomplished driver with an esteemed safety record and performance. Wayne also had a passion for cars and loved racing, particularly NASCAR and drag racing. He loved motorcycles and supported the military in earnest when and where he could. Sadly, a motorcycle injury from his youth prevented him from being the naval aviator he dreamed of and permanently disqualified him from military service.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father Frank Paul Taylor, his mother Kathleen Baxley, and his brother Frank Paul Taylor jr. Wayne is survived by his son Robert Adrian Taylor (and his children Izak Adrian Taylor and Victoria Brooke Taylor) and his daughter Dawn Allison Haas.
Funeral services will be held at the Hodges Family Funeral Home 11441 Hwy 301 Dade City FL July 30, Saturday from 1-3 pm
