Obituary

Schwieman, Robert E. 88 of Dade City, FL passed away July 24, 2013 in Zephyrhills under the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice. He was born July 3, 1925 in Kalamazoo, MI to Walter R. W. & Florence May Sage Schwieman. As a young man, he was a ballroom dance instructor before entering the US Army. He served in India and Burma during WW II as a specialist where his unit was assigned to build the Ledo Road. Following his military discharge, he was a Michigan State Trooper and then worked in the plant protection division of General Motors before retiring to Florida. Throughout his life he had a passion for competitive shooting and once retired you could always find him at the Dade City Rod & Gun Club where he served as President for many years. He loved his cigars and was an avid casino visitor. If he wasn't at the gun club, you could find him sitting at the slot machines with a cigar in his mouth. He lived a full life and will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Betty Schwieman; 6 children: David Schwieman, Donald Schwieman, Daniel Schwieman, Lisa Tarrant, Dale Schwieman, Lori Boyer; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Interment services will be held 2pm Monday, August 12, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
