Schoch, Sr.
April 18, 1943 – February 9, 2024
Robert (Bob) S. Schoch Sr. of Wesley Chapel, Florida, formally of Gibbstown, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by his family, on February 9, 2024 at the age of 80 years old. Bob served 4.5 years in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer First Class on the USS Hancock CVA 19 Attack Aircraft Carrier during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning home, he was set up on a blind date with a young lady from Hollidaysburg, PA which is how he found his true love Mary Martha Riley. They were married on September 4, 1965 and then started their family. Bob worked multiple jobs with J. C. Cameli Company, Hercules Chemical Co until landing a job with Mobil Oil Refinery, which he worked as a Pipe Fiter/ Boilermaker and in the storehouse with 40+ years of service. He was a life member of the Gibbstown Volunteer Fire Company with 55 years of volunteer service, was one of the first Certified Emergency Medical Technicians in the area, and he also worked on the safety crew at Bridgeport Speedway during the 1970s. Bob also coached his childrens Little League and Softball teams for many years and even delivered flowers during his retirement for Felician Flowers. Bob never met a stranger. Every person in the world, to him, was just a friend he hadnt met yet. He had such a contagious personality and that was evident by the way that people and animals all reacted to him. He will be missed by so many people, his fur babies at home and his feathered friends that he fed daily. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary M (Marcy), his sons Robert Jr and his wife Beth of Gibbstown, NJ, Larry and his wife Kari of Stetson, Maine, and daughter Juanita which he lived with in Wesley Chapel, Florida, his grandchildren Christopher, Rachelle, Sarah, Riley, Tiffany, and Ashley, Great Grandchildren Charlotte, Remi, and Harper, his brothers Willam, Ellis (Stew) and his wife Jan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and his family on Whistling Pines Court. He was predeceased by his parents John and Eleanor, his brothers John, Howard (Skip) and his sisters, Janet, Mildred, and Margaret (Peg) and one of his best friends Robert Atkinson (Bobby A). The family will have celebration of life services in both Florida and New Jersey at a later date.
