Robert Reek, age 87, of Dade City, FL, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019. Robert was born August 30, 1931 in Jackson, MI to Arthur Reek and Beatrice Eleanor (Secord) Reek. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Juanita (Sharland), five children: David Reek (Sherri), Patricia Webber (Gray), Michael Reek (Beth), Steven Reek, and Katherine Cain (Rodney). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, nephew Michael Richard Reek (Marjorie) and family in California, and lifelong friend, Michael Taubitz of Fenton, MI.Robert was a veteran of the Korean War in which he served as a combat medic from July 1950 to August 1951. For his service to his country, Bob was awarded several medals, including the bronze star with a V device for valor and the UN medal with 5 battle stars.Bob grew up in Linden and Grand Blanc, MI. After serving in Korea, Bob met and married the love of his life, Juanita, in 1954. They traveled extensively as a U.S. Army family and finally settled in Michigan in 1965 when Bob took a job at General Motors as a photographer. During this time Bob volunteered for Junior Achievement, Explorer Scouts, the GCARC and the Old Newsboys.After retiring Bob took up woodworking as a hobby, discovered he was a craftsman at heart, and started a small cabinet business. Later, in business with son Steven, Bob started Superior Cabinets in Burton. Eventually Bob and Nita spent several years with family in Ontonagon before settling permanently in Dade City, FL in 1997. Robert was predeceased by his father Arthur, mother Beatrice, and brother Richard.
