Robert W. Nelson 80, of Dade City, FL passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018. He was born January 23, 1938 in Bushnell, FL to Preston S. & Beatrice Walden Nelson and was a lifelong area resident. He retired as a Bridge Inspector after 42 years with the State of Florida and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and beekeeper . He was a member of the Family of God Baptist Church and the Highlands Club of the American Racing Pigeon Union. Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years: Bobbie L. Nelson; 2 children: Robert Wesley Nelson Jr., Cheryl Renne & David Salyer; 6 grandchildren: Ryan, Shane, Dylan, Cheyenne, Tanner and Logan; 6 siblings: Merlene Wheeler, Donald & Sharon Nelson, Margaret Cherry, Mildred Gilly, Myrtis More, Linda & Marcus Shackelford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for viewing from 1-2pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or those that wish may make donations in his memory to the Family of God Baptist Church building fund. Visitation
