Robert Joseph (R.J.) Nathe, 88, passed away at home on Wednesday August 7, 2024, with his loving wife, Patsy, of 65 years by his side.
He was born on October 19, 1935, to Joseph and Martha Nathe in the rural community of St. Joseph in Pasco County Florida.
After graduating from Pasco High School in Dade City, he served in the National Guard. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. R.J. was avid hunter and fisherman who loved the woods.
R.J. was a successful logger, rancher and citrus grower who dedicated his life to his family and his businesses, R.J. Nathe & Sons, Inc. and Tall Timber Cattle & Grove, Inc. His passion was his work. He had deep roots and loved the land. He raised his family and established his businesses on the land that his grandfather homesteaded in the late 1800s. An honest man with a very strong work ethic, he treated everyone fairly. Even though he did not like to be in the limelight, he was recognized in the logging industry with numerous awards and was featured in several publications.
R.J. is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Patsy Scharber), and his children, Robert (Jean) Nathe, Jr., William (Candy) Nathe, Irene (Donnie "Bobo") Johnson, James (Lynn) Nathe, Joseph (Janet) Nathe, Charles (Amy) Nathe; siblings Don (Karen) Nathe, Mark (Jeanette) Nathe, Ruth Hill; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ryan Charles Nathe.
A visitation is being held on Friday August 16, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 32145 St. Joe Road, Dade City, Fl followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, followed by graveside service. Immediately following the services, the family would like to invite everyone to the parish hall for food and fellowship.
