1938-2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert I. "Bob" Moore, 87, of Dade City, FL. Bob passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center after a brief illness, with his devoted wife, Suzan, lovingly holding his hand. His last breath on Earth was his first breath in Heaven.
Born in Syracuse, NY, Bob later made Florida his home. He was a graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School in Syracuse and Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. He proudly served in the National Guard and dedicated 25 years of his life to the Tampa Police Department, where he served with distinction. In 1978, he held the position of President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), reflecting his deep commitment to public service and his fellow officers.
A Mason since 1969, Bob was a respected and active member of the Masonic Fraternity. He served Fellowship Lodge No. 265 in Tampa as Worshipful Master in 1988. He belonged to PTF United Lodge No. 153 in Tampa, as well as J. F. Swartzel Lodge No. 251 in Lutz, FL and Lindsey Lodge No. 292 in Timbo, Arkansas. His leadership was recognized with titles such as District Deputy Grand Master of District 19 in 1993, Grand Marshal of The Grand Lodge of Florida (1999-2000), and Grand Marshal of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Florida (2000-2001). He also served faithfully as Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Suzan; his daughter, Pamela La Plante, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivey and Thelma Moore; his beloved son, Alan Moore; and his brother, Bill Moore (Joan).
After retirement, Bob and Suzan enjoyed life on the road in their motor home, traveling together with their fur babies to 49 states and much of Canada. They especially cherished attending Bluegrass Festivals with friends old and new. A passionate guitarist, Bob loved playing and singing Gospel music, sharing his faith and joy through song.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his Masonic family and his unmistakable sense of humor that brought smiles wherever he went.
His Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
